Ali Jan Issazai

Occupied Balochistan: A bullet-riddled body of famous Balochi [Brahvi] folk singer Ali Jan Issazai was found in Kanak area of Khuzdar district, some 300-kilometer southeast of Balochistan's capital, on Monday.

According to police, local people spotted the body in Kanak area within the limits of City Police Station Khuzdar and informed the police. The body was taken to state-run hospital for autopsy. "The victim received a single bullet in the head and his body bore multiple signs of torture," sources at the hospital confirmed. His hands were tied from behind with rope.

The body was handed over to heirs in Bisma for burial. Folk singer Ali Jan Issazai was whisked away along with his student Shahzad Nadeem presumably by Pakistani intelligence agencies from a roadside hotel in Quetta on January 10th this year. Since then they were listed as missing.

On 12 January 2011, the relatives of Ali Jan and Shehzad Nadeem while addressing a press conference at Quetta press Club said that "Both Balochi language singers had come to Quetta to compose a new album for Yaqoob Music Centre Quetta one day prior to their arrest and disappearance. "The music album has now been released. They relatives had also said that Ali Jan and Shehzad were not affiliated with any parties or Organisation and apart from singing they were also government employees".

According to family members, "Ali Jan sang popular Balochi and Brahvi songs and had taken part in several concerts in Arab countries," close relatives told newsmen. The killing of folk singer had not only had shaken his family but also his fans and music lovers in Balochistan and Sindh.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VFBMP), more than 75 bullet riddled bodies have so far been found from different parts of Balochistan for the past six months. Few days back Home Minister claimed that most of the missing persons have been traced and only 55 persons are missing from Balochistan. The Minister evaded comments on the bullet riddled bodies of missing persons thrown at public places.

However, VFBMP and Baloch nationalist parties say that more than eight thousands Baloch people are still missing and those who are being recently picked up, their bodies have been recovered. They say that Pakistani security personnel are involved in extra-judicial killings of Baloch people during their illegal detention.

It is worth mentioning here that Ali Jan Baloch is not the first Balochi language singer who has been under-custody, previously, Balochi language poet and singer Faqir Mohammad (Ajiz) Shahwani was abducted by Pakistani FC (Frontier Corps) and intelligence agencies from Mastung later his bullet riddled body was found.

Meanwhile DailyTawar reported that the identity of a previously undentified body has been ascertained. The victim has been named as Mohammad Ramzan son of Nawab Khan Langove, a resident of Manghochar town in Balochistan. Mr Langove's body had been discovered from Airport Raod Quetta and was shifted to BMC Quetta for identification. The body has been handed over to the relatives of the confirmation of his identity.
