March 27: National Press Club to Host "NEWSMAKER" Briefing on Baluchistan

Reps. Rohrabacher and Gohmert to Speak

WASHINGTON, March 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/

U.S. Reps. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and Louie Gohmert (R-TX) will speak at a National Press Club Newsmaker press conference at:

12:00 p.m. (noon)
Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Zenger Room
National Press Building, 529 14th St., N.W., Washington, DC.

Reps. Rohrabacher, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, in February introduced a House Concurrent Resolution that the Baluch nation has a historic right to self-determination.

Reps. Gohmert and Steve King (R-IA) also signed on as original co-sponsors of the bill.

Reps. Rohrabacher and Gohmert will address the recommendation in the bill stating that the Baluchi people "have the right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country; and they should be afforded the opportunity to choose their own status."

Baluchistan, rich in natural resources, is currently divided between Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan with no sovereign rights of its own. An attempt to regain independence in 1947 was crushed by an invasion by Pakistan.
