KARACHI, March 23: The bullet-riddled body of Gwadar Development Authority official Mohammad Arif Noor, who went missing on Oct 31 from his Garden residence, has been found in Winder, Lasbela district, some 120km from here.

Mr Arif`s family members said they received a telephone call from Winder police station on Wednesday morning, informing them that a mutilated body had been found. A piece of paper in one of the pockets of the deceased suggested that he was Arif Noor.

Some close relatives went to Winder and took over the body from police officials there.

At a press conference a few weeks ago, Abid Noor, the younger brother of Arif, had alleged that his brother had been kidnapped by security agency personnel and that his life could be in danger.

Abid also approached the Sindh High Court and filed a petition that sought the tracing of Arif`s whereabouts. The plea said the family members had failed to locate Arif despite repeated requests to senior law-enforcement officials.

According to the family, Arif was a grade-16 officer in the Gwadar Development Authority and suffered from spine problems. He came to Karachi for treatment, but was kidnapped from his house in Garden area.

Abid said that some armed men in plain clothes, escorted by policemen, had surrounded his neighbourhood in Garden East, entered their apartment and took his brother away in late October.

Another bullet-riddled body, identified to be that of Nawaz Marri, was also found in the same locality of Lasbela district.

According to a report received here, the deceased had gone missing on Jan 5 from Hub.

from Balochwarna.com, March 23: The body of Mohammad Nawaz Marri was found just inches away from Arif Noor Baloch's body. Nawaz's body showed signs of torture as well as bullet wounds to the head and upper torso. Nawaz Marri was a labourer by profession and was abducted on January, 5, 2011 near Lasbella while returning to his home from work. Sources close to him say he was the sole income provider for the family.

Appeal to PM, President, CJ for recovery of missing Baloch

Zafar Ahmed Khan

KARACHI: In a Press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Abid Baloch, the younger brother of missing Arif Noor Baloch appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, and Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to help win the release of his brother who has been missing since midnight, October 31, 2010.

Abid said that Arif Noor Baloch was working as a 16 grade officer in Gwadar Development Authority (GDA). Arif had suffered an accident and had moved to his home in Jaffer Aziz apartment, Garden East, Karachi, where his parents and other family members live. Two months later, while recovering, unknown persons in the company of police officials in civilian dress kidnapped Arif Baloch from his house in Garden East. Abid said that following the kidnapping, Arif's family contacted the Soldier Bazaar Police, but the police refused to register the FIR of Arif's kidnapping.

Abid highlighted that the family had registered a petition in the Sindh High Court after the court ordered Soldier Bazaar Police to register FIR 377/2010 against the unknown kidnappers. Abid Baloch claimed that Arif Noor Baloch could be killed, just as other Baloch persons have been killed following abductions in Balochistan. Abid demanded that the United Nations Human Rights Commission and other human welfare associations play a positive role and help win the release of Arif Noor Baloch from his abductors. Other members of Abid's family were present at the conference.
